Marathon holds your semester — syllabi, deadlines, grades. That only works if you never have to wonder what happens to any of it. Here is the whole deal, without a legal team in the way.
01 · Your work
Your syllabus is yours.
Uploads exist to build your plan — nothing else. Your syllabi, tasks, grades, and notes are never used to train models, never shown to other students unless you explicitly make a class public, and never shared with anyone.
02 · Deletion
Delete means delete.
Deleting a class removes its tasks, subtasks, and files with it. Deleting your account removes everything. No soft-delete purgatory, no 90-day retention fine print, no 'contact support to erase your data.'
03 · No ads
You are the customer, not the product.
No ads, no selling data, no 'anonymized insights' handed to third parties. Marathon will make money the boring way: students choosing to pay for a tool that works.
04 · Infrastructure
Serious rails under the paper.
Sign-in runs on Clerk and data lives in Convex — both maintain SOC 2 Type II attestations and encrypt data in transit and at rest. As Marathon grows into working with clubs and departments, we'll pursue our own audit on the same standard.
05 · Billing
Cancel in two clicks. Always.
Marathon is free while in beta. When paid plans arrive: the price will be visible before any card form, renewals get an email heads-up, and cancellation lives in Settings — two clicks, no chat with retention, no dark patterns. Study apps are notorious for surprise charges; we're putting the opposite in writing early.
06 · Student privacy
Built for student expectations.
Marathon is built by a student, for students, with student-privacy laws like FERPA in mind as we grow into campus partnerships. If a school, club, or professor wants documentation of any of the above, we'll get on a call.
